The countdown has already begun, and the clock keeps ticking. There are 139 days left until the 2026 Aachen World Championships kick off—one of those events that every rider, whether amateur or professional, marks in red on their calendar the moment it’s announced.
When we talk about Aachen, we’re talking about something truly special. We’re talking about arenas that command respect, stands that roar like few others in the world, and an atmosphere that, as many riders say, gives you goosebumps even before you step into the arena.
From August 11 to 23, 2026, the Soers will once again be decked out to welcome the best horses and riders on the planet in six disciplines: Dressage, Eventing, Vaulting, Para-Dressage, Driving, and Show Jumping.
To understand what this championship means, we must look back—specifically to 2006, when Aachen hosted that year’s memorable World Equestrian Games. To this day, many riders still cite that edition as one of the most impressive they have ever experienced.
Isabell Werth, the most decorated Dressage rider of all time, did not hesitate to recall what that experience meant. For her, those championships were “the most incredible that riders have ever experienced.”
Expectations for 2026 are just as high. Everything points to the atmosphere being incredible once again.
The program spans thirteen days.
The first week will be dedicated to Dressage, Eventing, and Vaulting.
The second week will feature Paralympic Dressage, Driving, and Show Jumping.
One of the major highlights will be watching Dressage in the main stadium, a venue usually reserved for Show Jumping.
Beyond the medals, Aachen 2026 will play a significant role on the international calendar. It will be the first major qualifying opportunity for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, adding an extra layer of pressure and expectation for the national teams.
This isn’t just about performing well; it’s about securing a ticket to the next major goal.
At a world championship, this translates to courses measured down to the millimeter, horses in peak condition, and riders who know that every stride counts toward achieving it.
Aachen has never been just a competition. It’s a complete experience.
The opening ceremony, scheduled for August 11, promises to be a full-scale spectacle, featuring music, horses, and a production designed to thrill. Among the most anticipated moments will be the participation of the German state stud farms with 64 stallions—a truly impressive sight.
In addition, the entire city will rally behind the event. Concerts, cultural activities, fan zones, and public broadcasts will turn Aachen into a gathering place for the equestrian world.
There are 139 days left until the kickoff of the best event of the year.
