The 2026 Spanish Show Jumping Championships came to a close this past Sunday, October 18, at the Dehesa Montenmedio in Vejer de la Frontera (Cádiz), with the finals in the Senior, Young Riders, and 1.40-meter Classic categories. In total, the competition awarded nine national titles, including those for 5-, 6-, and 7-year-old young horses and the 1.10-, 1.20-, 1.30-, and 1.40-meter Classic events.

Among the most notable results were Imma Roquet Autonell’s first Absolute title—marking Nauwsika van de Pereboom’s competition debut—Alex Sagarduy Bengoa’s victory in the Young Riders category, and Santiago Núñez Riva’s double victory in the seven-year-old division.

Imma Roquet Makes Nauwsika’s Debut with Absolute Gold

Imma Roquet Autonell and Nauwsika van de Pereboom were crowned Spanish Overall Champions with 13.11 penalty points. Silver went to Laura Roquet Puignero with Nina Puigroq, who finished with 16.01 points, and bronze to Kevin González de Zárate with Djoural de Lizet, with 17.62.

The result holds special significance for Imma Roquet, who was competing in her first show with Nauwsika van de Pereboom. The 13-year-old mare, with experience up to 1.55 meters, allowed the rider to finish the championship on a high note.

“I’m very happy. I jumped here with a mare I’m competing with for the first time. She’s fantastic. She’s 13 years old and has a lot of experience. She’s made things very easy for me from the start,” Roquet explained after the victory.

The rider said she is still discovering just how far they can go together. Nauwsika has already cleared 1.55-meter jumps, and now the goal is to continue getting to know her and see if they can make the leap to 1.60 meters.

Alex Sagarduy, Spanish Young Riders Champion

Alex Sagarduy claimed the Young Riders title with Classique des Loups, with a total of 0.86 penalty points. The rider managed to maintain his lead and was the only pair to complete both rounds of the final—held over 1.45 meters—without any faults.

Patricia Astiz Cámara took the silver medal with Carambola, with 9.46 penalty points, while Garazi Landeta Smith placed third with Ermione du Val Jouen, with 14.88.

The result caps off a strong championship for Sagarduy and Classique des Loups, who handled a demanding final with ease and claimed the national gold.

José Antonio García Diana Wins the 1.40-Meter Classic

The final event was the 1.40-meter Classic, where José Antonio García Diana prevailed with Marola. The rider and the nine-year-old KWPN mare, owned by Yeguada Valbanera, finished with just 0.33 penalty points and completed both rounds of the final without any faults.

Luis Fernández Gil-Fournier placed second with Ordesa, a CDE mare owned by the Ministry of Defense, with 3.87 penalty points. Laura Roquet Puignero added another medal to her tally by finishing third with Qori Puigroq, also a CDE horse, with four penalty points.

Four Titles in the Classic Categories

The finals of the 1.10-, 1.20-, and 1.30-meter Classic events had been held during the previous days, completing the medal tally for these categories.

In the 1.30-meter Classic, Ricardo del Campo López-Crespo was crowned champion with Ilton. The pair completed all three qualifying rounds without any penalties and took gold in the jump-off. Mickey Seaquist Fernández-Cavada placed second with Contador vd Dorpermolen Z, and Ibone Ibáñez Aldecoa took third place with Bambino d’Assemont.

The 1.20-meter Classic final was also decided in a jump-off. Cristina Ucelay Iturriza won with Diamand du Breche, after being the only one of the four pairs to reach this round with a clear round. Her time was 41.30 seconds. Alexandra Woivre Gómez, riding Et Voila AW, took silver, and Lidia Fernández Solar, riding Divin du Boisset, took bronze.

In the 1.10-meter Classic, Jesús A. Rueda Martínez claimed the title with Onno, posting a clear round in 37.94 seconds in the jump-off. Iván Rodrigañez Bayón finished second with Wata, also with no penalties, and Carmen Herruzo Barreiros rounded out the podium with Spice Girl.

The 1.40-meter Classic, won by José Antonio García Diana riding Marola P&M, rounded out the four titles in these categories.
